176 Students Graduate from School

A huge milestone for Bali Children’s Project as we saw the highest ever numbers of high school gradautes complete school through our sponsorship program.

176 students, all from families who cannot afford the costs related to high school education in Bali, have now beaten the odds and graduated from high school.

It is a feat that cannot be underestimated.

These children previously had only a dim hope of high school graduation and were looking at a future of basic day-labour work and earning under the minimum wage. It is the cycle of generational poverty that sadly thousands of children live in.

But that is now not the case for our 176 graduates, thanks to the generosity of their sponsors. Watch our video below to see the celebrations and futures that the sponsorships have opened up for these students.

Our graduates are made up of:

71 boys
105 girls

of whom…

137 are high school graduates
36 are one-year college diploma graduates
1 is a three-year college diploma graduate
3 Bachelor’s degree graduates

49 are moving on to one-year college diplomas
2 are moving on to two-year college diplomas

3 are moving on to three-year college diplomas
11 students are moving on to university Bachelor’s degrees

…and a further 58 have already found steady, paid work, with some incredible stories such as students working abroad in Taiwan, Japan and America, to working as professional baristas, to establishing their own motorcycle repair shop.

This is the future that these children always deserved and Bali Children’s Project is grateful to our kind sponsors who made this happen. You have truly changed their lives.

The first program conceived by Bali Children’s Project back in the 1990’s, sponsorships have changed the lives – and futures – of countless children.

However, the problem in Bali remains, as on average 1 in 5 students will never graduate from school.

You can change a child’s life too, by becoming a sponsor. You can see students in desperate need of sponsorship here.
