27th December 2017.
Introducing Bali Children’s Project’s latest program – Child Protection workshops in Bali. In 2017, we visited 24 schools and over 840 students.
Pilot Project
The sessions are designed by our very own Opy Sulaeman, who pioneered our Sex Education workshops for teenagers.
After running successful Health Education workshops for multiple years, we have the perfect structure for developing new child protection workshops.
Initial worries of addressing a taboo subject were soon discarded after the team was warmly received by all schools, with each school requesting further support. Having been a rousing success, our intentions are to expand this into a fully-fledged workshop program in 2018.
Child Protection Workshops
Using established techniques and drawing on key messages from existing internationally recognised teaching our workshops will promote simple messages to help children understand and respond to abuse.
Each workshop is an hour long, and is split into seven mini sessions including a brain game, film showing, questions and answers, role playing games and more.
The aim is firstly to help young students learn about what abuse actually is. After that, we can encourage students to speak out and act against their abusers.
Our thanks to the Mel Wolf Foundation, Three Monkeys Restaurants and Friends of Canggu Community School who have funded the project so far.
We are still looking for other sustainable funding sources, so please get in touch if you would like to support this program.
