As June comes to a close and the new school year also ends, Bali Children’s Project is thankful to June’s 31 new sponsors.

June and July are some of the most important times of the year for children. They have finished their school year and look on to their next year.

In Bali, moving up a year also is a time of uncertainty. Students who move into high school take a huge new step, while senior high students choose a major.

Bali Struggles

For many children, it’s a time when they drop out. Most school fees are payable at the start of the school year (in July).

So while it should be an exciting new adventure, it also marks the peak time for school drop outs. Children from poor families often struggle to afford the fees.

With schools planning a phased reopening in Bali, costs still remain.

Families take loans, get into debt or have the children work to try and pay the fees.

The Pandemic has made daily life even more difficult, with the economy struggling and jobs being harder to find, meaning affording school is even more difficult.

New Sponsors to the Rescue

In June, we were delighted to tell 31 children their school careers are secured, thanks to new sponsors.

We thank sponsors Barry, The Grittani Family, Wim & Yvonne, Robert, Mita, Ariel, Lisa, Valeria, Roger & Barbara, Thor, Alexandra, Jenieve and Sianglai who all became sponsors.

With worldwide financial struggles, we’re eternally grateful to kind donors who have helped us to keep children sponsored, as well as give new children the opportunity to finish school.

There are still many more children waiting for a sponsor, so please check the Sponsorship Waiting List to read their stories. You can also find out how sponsorships work here.

You can become a sponsor and help change the course of a child’s life in Bali.

Sponsorships cover all associated costs for school and help children who would normally drop out to stay in school and graduate.
